History

Barokas Martin & Tomlinson opened for business in Seattle in 1968, and has had an office in Alaska since 1971. Larry Barokas and Dale Martin have one of the longest-lived partnerships in the Northwest. The firm’s four partners combine over 130 years of experience in construction, business, real estate and related fields of law. Our approach to the practice of law is hands-on accountability, whether reviewing or drafting the documents, structuring the deal, working through the financing, avoiding problems or solving them, and dealing with a client’s legal needs from inception to resolution or completion.

A number of our clients have been with us from the start. They know that all of the firm’s resources can be made available as and if needed, but one of the senior members takes charge of the matter and is directly accountable from start to resolution. What a client once said about us has become the Barokas Martin & Tomlinson watchword: “The lawyer I hire is the lawyer who represents me, is accountable to me, and in whom I have confidence that my case receives the quality time and attention it needs. The system works.”

The diversity and duration of the background and experience among senior firm members enables Barokas Martin & Tomlinson to perform legal work for our clients with an understanding of the motives, the objectives, and the perspective of all of the involved players. We understand that the client is looking for problem avoidance and problem solving as primary goals. They want to run their businesses and finish their projects. But, when a situation calls for it, we are expert at dispute resolution. And in those inevitable situations when litigation becomes a necessity, Barokas Martin & Tomlinson has the horsepower and the experience to present the best possible case. Each of the senior firm members has sat first chair in dozens of federal, state, Claims Court, BCA trials, and in arbitrations and administrative hearings. Barokas Martin & Tomlinson will match its success record with any firm around.
